Protect Your Rights with SRC Law Group, LLC

Whether due to drunk driving, involvement in a hit and run, excessive speeding or more, license suspension can lead to serious difficulties and complications in your personal and professional life. For example, even a first offense DUI in Kansas can result in a minimum 30-day suspension of your license, but this can extend up to a full year in some cases.

When your driving rights and privileges are on the line, it’s important to get legal help from a firm you can trust. With more than 25 years of collective experience, including insight from a former prosecutor, SRC Law Group, LLC has what it takes to secure the best possible outcome for many of our clients.

Understanding the License Suspension Process

To effectively combat license suspension, you need to respond to your charges quickly and make sure that every step of the process is completed correctly.

Typically, the license suspension process unfolds as follows:

  • You are arrested and the officer takes your driver’s license.
  • You are given a DC-27, a pink sheet of paper that is a 30-day temporary license.
  • You have 14 days from this point to request an Administrative License Hearing (ALH).
  • You will receive a letter from the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDR) acknowledging your request.
  • Your driving privileges will be extended by the KDR until your hearing.
  • You and your lawyer will receive a notice of your hearing.
  • You and your lawyer must legally prove that your license shouldn’t be suspended at this hearing.

If you do not request an Administrative License Hearing within the first 14 days of receiving the DC-27 or if your information is incomplete or submitted incorrectly, you WILL have your license suspended. That is why it is so important to hire an attorney who can make sure that all your information is submitted correctly and on time. Additionally, a lawyer can help you make a legal case to keep your driver’s license. The hearing officer will not be swayed by simple pleas or by listening to how you have to drive to get to work or take your kids to school.
